The One Health Club is partnering up with the Larimer County Rabies Taskforce to respond to the recent outbreak of terrestrial rabies cases in Larimer County. We are organizing a county-wide, high volume vaccination clinic that will administer 1250 FREE rabies vaccines in targeted high-risk areas in Larimer County.
We need your help to make this project possible! We need veterinary students to assist with *very basic* physical exams–essentially taking temperatures, pulses, and respiratory rates. We will also need your help with restraining patients for their injection. Please bring stethoscopes and thermometers if you have them.
The clinics will take place at 5 locations in Larimer County on Saturday, September 29, 2012: two locations in Ft. Collins, and locations in Loveland, Berthoud, and Wellington. The time commitment is about five hours, from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. (the actual clinic runs from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.).
This is a great opportunity to help mitigate the spread of terrestrial rabies into our dog and cat populations, to give back to the community, and to see a high volume vaccine clinic in action!
This project was made possible by rabies vaccine donations from Boehringer-Ingelheim and grant funding from the AVMA-GHLIT.
